Rules and policies
Terms of service
SamajMilan is a place for families. Everyone here is looking for a life partner, for a son, a daughter or themselves. These terms explain what the service is, who can join, and the rules everyone follows. Each part opens with a short summary, followed by the full terms.
Pre-launch draft, pending legal reviewThis text is still a draft and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It will be updated before the app opens to the public, and the final text and the date from which it applies will be published here.

1About these terms
In plain words
The rules for using SamajMilan. You accept them when you tick "I accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy" while registering in the app.
These terms are an agreement between you and ZeniaPex Private Limited ("we"), which runs the SamajMilan app and this website. "You" means the account holder using the app and, where different, the person the profile is for.
A profile cannot be submitted without accepting these terms, and we record which version you accepted and when. If you do not agree, please do not use SamajMilan.
The privacy policy and the community guidelines are part of these terms.
2What SamajMilan is
In plain words
A software service that introduces families within a samaj. For matrimonial purposes only, not dating. We are not a party to any marriage, and we do not promise one.
SamajMilan is a tool for families: to create profiles, to find suitable matches within their own samaj and, if both families wish, to take the conversation further. Every decision about meetings, alliances, engagements and marriages belongs to the members and their families.
SamajMilan is for matrimonial purposes only. It is not a dating site. We do not arrange marriages, we do not speak for any family, and we are not a party to any relationship, engagement or marriage.
Each samaj's office approves its own members' profiles and checks their documents. That work is the samaj's own; we provide the tool for it.
We keep improving the service, so features may change or be withdrawn.
3Who can join
In plain words
Both the account holder and the person the profile is for must be 18 or older. A marriage may take place only at the legal age: at least 21 for the groom and at least 18 for the bride.
- The person the profile is for must be at least 18. The app does not accept a profile for anyone younger.
- The account holder using the app must also be 18 or older.
- Under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, at the time of marriage the groom must be at least 21 and the bride at least 18. A young man of 18 may have a profile, but may marry only after turning 21.
- At the time of marriage the person must be legally free to marry: never married, divorced, widowed, or with a marriage that was annulled. Someone who is separated but not divorced must complete the legal process before marrying again.
- You must be a member of the samaj you join, or eligible to join it under that samaj's rules.
- Anyone whose account was closed for breaking the rules may not join again without our permission.
4Registering for a family member
In plain words
You may make a profile for a son, daughter, brother or sister, but only with their knowledge and consent. The account holder is responsible for what the profile says.
Often a parent or guardian creates and runs the profile. When a profile is made, the app records who runs it: the person themselves, a parent, a guardian, or together.
- Tell the person first and get their consent. Never make a profile against their wishes.
- The account holder is responsible for every detail in the profile, and for every interest and chat sent from it.
- The person the profile is for may have it closed if they wish, by contacting the samaj office or the grievance officer.
- Do not make a profile for anyone else, such as a friend or a distant relative, without their knowledge.
5Honest information
In plain words
True details, and photos of the same person. One profile per person. Close the profile once a marriage is fixed.
- Give true details: name, date of birth, marital status, education, work, income, family, and samaj or pargana.
- Photos must be recent and of the same person. Never someone else's photo.
- One profile per person. Two profiles with the same surname and date of birth are shown to the samaj office automatically.
- When something changes, such as a new job or a new city, update it in the app or tell your samaj office.
- Once a marriage is fixed, tap "Got married" in the app to close the profile, so that other families do not keep waiting.
- False details or false documents can lead to rejection, suspension or removal. Giving false documents can also be an offence under the law.
6Approval by the samaj office
In plain words
Every profile is seen by the samaj office before anyone else can see it. The office can approve it, ask for a correction with a reason, or reject it with a reason.
- After you submit, the profile waits for approval: until then nobody can see it, and you cannot send interests.
- Once the samaj office approves, the profile is shown to members of your samaj.
- If something needs correcting, the office sends the profile back with a reason. You can fix it and submit again.
- If the office rejects a profile it must give a reason, and you get a notice in the app.
- There is no fixed time for approval; it depends on the samaj office.
- Whether someone is accepted as a member is for the samaj to decide under its own rules.
Verification badges
Each check is shown on its own: the mobile number, samaj membership, an identity document, education, or a reference. In the app today, a profile whose samaj membership has been checked also shows a short "Verified" tag; it means only that samaj membership was checked, nothing more. The mobile badge comes automatically with the one-time code, the reference badge when the person named as a reference confirms, and the other badges from the people your samaj office appoints for verification, after they check a document. A badge comes only from the check itself; no plan gives one.
7Conduct
In plain words
Respect for everyone. Do not ask for money, do not harass anyone, do not pass on anyone's number or photo. Zero tolerance for any abuse involving children.
While using SamajMilan, you must not:
- Create a profile in someone else's name, with someone else's photo or with false details, or keep a profile running after marriage.
- Ask for money, gifts or help for any reason, or ask for or offer dowry. Dowry is an offence under Indian law.
- Harass or threaten anyone, keep messaging after a "no", or send obscene or insulting messages.
- Insult anyone or spread hatred about anyone's samaj, caste, religion, colour, looks or disability.
- Pass on anyone's number, photo or biodata without their permission, post it in WhatsApp groups or on social media, or spread screenshots of it.
- Use SamajMilan for dating, business, selling, advertising, or collecting numbers and details.
- Copy profile details automatically (scraping), try to get into someone else's account, or tamper with the security of the app or its servers.
- Take part in any sexual abuse of a child, share such material, or contact a child with such intent. Such an account is closed at once and reported to the police as the law requires.
- Do anything that breaks any law in India.
More about everyday conduct is in the community guidelines. Read the community guidelines
8Sharing contact details
In plain words
Numbers only after both families say yes, and only when each side shares its own. Every share is recorded and can be revoked.
- A number never appears on a profile, on a share link or in any notice.
- After an interest or introduction request is accepted and you are connected, each side shows its own number only by tapping "Share my contact" itself.
- Every share and every revoke is recorded. Tap "Revoke contact" and the number leaves the other screen straight away.
- A number you receive is only for your family's marriage decision. Do not pass it on.
- Daily limits prevent misuse: a number can be shared at most 30 times in 24 hours, and the number of interests a profile can send in 24 hours is limited too.
9Reports, suspension and appeals
In plain words
If something feels wrong, tap "Report" or "Block". The samaj office looks into reports. If you disagree with a decision, write to the samaj office first, then to the grievance officer.
- Tap "Report" on any profile and pick a reason: fake profile, wrong information, inappropriate photo, harassment, fraud, already married, wrong community details, or something else.
- The other family is never told who reported them.
- "Block" works at once and both ways: you stop seeing each other in search, and interests and chat stop.
- The samaj office looks into a report and can dismiss it, give a warning, suspend the profile, or close a profile whose marriage has taken place. The member is told in the app what was decided.
- For a serious breach of these terms or the law, we may also suspend or close any account.
Appeals
If your profile is rejected, suspended or closed and you disagree, speak to your samaj office first; it can restore a suspended profile. If that does not settle it, write to the grievance officer, who will look at the matter again and reply to you. Grievance officer page
10Plans and payment
In plain words
SamajMilan has plans. Their prices and terms will be stated clearly here before the app opens to the public.
- SamajMilan has different plans. Today a plan can be switched on only by your samaj office.
- There is no way to pay inside the app today.
- Each plan, its price and its terms will be stated clearly in these terms before the app opens to the public.
- No plan gives a verification badge; badges come only from the checks themselves.
11Your content and our property
In plain words
Your photos and words remain yours. You let us use them only as far as needed to run the service. The SamajMilan name, mark and app belong to ZeniaPex.
The photos, words and documents you add remain yours. You give ZeniaPex a limited permission to store them, check them and show them as the privacy policy describes. The permission is only for running the service, and it ends when your account is deleted, except for records the privacy policy says we must keep.
You must have the right to add any photo or text you upload.
The SamajMilan name, the Milan Bindu mark, the app, this website and their design belong to ZeniaPex Private Limited. Do not copy, modify or sell them without our written permission.
Information a samaj office adds, such as the details and rules of its gol or pargana, belongs to that samaj.
12What we cannot promise
In plain words
Families fill in their own profiles. A badge shows only what reviewers could confirm at that time. Families should make their own enquiries before taking things further.
- Families write their own profile details. Apart from the separate checks shown on each profile, we do not vouch for any detail.
- A verification badge shows only what reviewers could confirm at that time. It is not a guarantee of anyone's identity, character, conduct, health or income.
- Before taking things further, families should make their own enquiries: ask people who know the family, and hold the first meeting with family present, in a public place.
- Matches the app suggests are guidance based on preferences, not a recommendation or a promise.
- We try to keep the service running at all times, but maintenance or faults can interrupt it. The service is provided "as is".
13Limitation of liability
In plain words
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses arising from what members say or do to each other, or from meetings, engagements or marriages.
To the fullest extent the law allows, ZeniaPex Private Limited, its directors and its staff are not liable for:
- Conversations, meetings, alliances, engagements or marriages between members, or their outcome.
- Loss caused by false information, fraud or misconduct by any member.
- Approval, rejection or verification decisions made by a samaj office.
- Indirect loss caused by an interruption of the service or a delayed notice.
This does not limit any liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as our legal duties if your data is breached through our own negligence.
14Closing your account
In plain words
You can delete your account at any time. Deletion is final: the account cannot be switched back on.
- In the app, open the Privacy Center from the "Profile" tab and tap "Delete account". A way to ask without the app will be published on the account deletion page before the app opens to the public.
- The profile is hidden as soon as you ask, and after 14 days your personal details are removed for good, as the privacy policy describes. The account cannot be switched back on.
- If the rules are broken, we or the samaj office may suspend or close an account.
- Even after an account is closed, the terms on limitation of liability, governing law and courts, and records we must keep continue to apply.
15Governing law and courts
In plain words
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be heard by the courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat alone have jurisdiction over any dispute about these terms or the service.
Before going to court, please write to the grievance officer. Most matters can be settled by talking.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you, such as your rights under the data protection law.
16Changes to these terms
In plain words
When these terms change, the new text will be published here with a new version number and date. For a significant change we will also tell you in the app.
The version is shown at the top of this page. If you keep using SamajMilan after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
