Delete your SamajMilan account
You can delete your account in the app. The profile is hidden as soon as you ask, and your details are removed for good in the first night after 14 days.
In the app
Four taps in the app
1. The "Profile" tab
Tap "Profile" in the bar at the bottom of the app.
2. Privacy Center
Scroll down and open "Privacy Center".
3. Delete account
Tap "Delete account" at the very bottom.
4. Confirm
In the confirmation box, tap "Delete".
- The confirmation box and the message after it are in English today. The box mentions a "14-day grace period": that only means your details are removed for good after 14 days. The message after it may also say "contact your samaj admin to restore": that line is out of date. The account cannot be switched back on during those days, not even by your samaj office.
- Changed your mind? Tap "Cancel" in the confirmation box: nothing changes.
- If one account runs more than one profile, for example for two children, all of them are deleted together.
- If you only want to hide the profile for a while, turn on "Hide for a while" in the Privacy Center instead of deleting the account.
What happens
What is removed, and what stays
As soon as you ask
- Your profile, and every profile you manage, disappears from search, profile pages and share links.
- The "about me" and "expectations" text on the profile is erased.
- Samaj membership is paused.
- The app signs out on every phone, and the account does not open again.
After 14 days, for good
Automatically, in the first night after the 14 days.
- Photo and document files.
- Date of birth, city, education, work, height, income and preferences. Your name is replaced with "Deleted member".
- Family and roots details, the references you gave, and Family Circle numbers and notes.
- Saved searches, notes on saved profiles, event registrations and notices.
- The text of messages you sent and of notes sent with an interest.
- Every share link is revoked, and a success story you wrote is withdrawn.
- Your phone number and email on the account, and your name or number in other families' Family Circle or references.
- After that, the same mobile number can start a new account from the beginning. None of the old details come back into it.
What stays, and why
- Old interests, connections and conversations stay on record under the name "Deleted member", without your text, so the other family's history does not break.
- A record of who did what and when, without personal text; and the internet address (IP) used at registration, kept as a record the law requires (IT Rules 2021).
- A record of the consents you gave, now marked "withdrawn".
- If you shared your number earlier and someone saved it on their phone, or someone printed your biodata, we cannot delete that copy.
Without the app
If you do not have the app or the phone
If you changed phones or no longer have the app, sign in to the app again with the same mobile number and follow the four steps above. Your samaj office gives you the app.
A way to ask for deletion on this website, without the app, and our support contact details will be published on this page before the app opens to the public.
Until then, if you no longer have that number or cannot sign in, please speak to your samaj office.
